Lady Chatterley's Ghost (4 Stars)
"Passion goes on forever. It never dies, even beyond the grave".
This is the 25th film in the Medina Collection, made in 2010. It has a minimal cast compared with Fred Olen Ray's other films, only five actors.
Charles is a businessman who has to work at all hours. Though not explicitly stated, he seems to be working in the property business. He picks up an old book in a house, "Lady Chatterley's Lover", and gives it to his wife Sandra. She becomes fascinated with the book, reading it repeatedly. While reading it she has such vivid daydreams that she thinks they are real. For instance, she imagines that she is having sex with her gardener while reading the book. (In my first review I wrote that she really was having an affair, but while watching it today I realised it's only a fantasy).
Sandra needs her fantasies. She's a hot-blooded young woman, but her husband has no time for her. He says it's because of his heavy work load, but we soon find out that he has a lover. He even hires his lover, Connie, as a maid to help Sandra with the housework. Charles is an evil man. Treating his wife like that is reprehensible. However, he's bitten off more than he can chew. Connie has an agenda of her own. Not satisfied with Charles alone, she seduces Sandra, the gardener and even Sandra's best friend Sophia. Yes, that means that she seduces all the other actors in the film. It's a shame that Ted Newson is missing from this film. He missed out on his chance of finally getting a woman.
Connie's motives only become apparent late in the film, but we soon realise that she's not who she seems to be. She's the ghost of Vera Montez, the original owner of Sandra's book. She has taken on flesh and blood so that she can be close to the book that she loves so much.
Charles must be rich. He's able to live in the luxurious mansion that we've seen in so many of the Medina films so far.
This is what it looks like inside. It's quite a house. I can understand Sandra needing a maid for a house this big. Look how high the ceiling is. She needs a long ladder if she wants to dust in the corners.
And this is what it looks like at the back. That's an enormous swimming pool. I want a house like that.
