Hostel: Part III (2 Stars)
This is the third and hopefully the last film in the Hostel series. The first two films were written and directed by Eli Roth. I don't know why he didn't want to make the third film himself. Maybe he was bored with the concept and wanted to move on. This film is written by Michael Weiss and directed by Scott Spiegel. Michael Weiss is well known for writing awful sequels to good films, such as "Butterfly Effect 2", "Scorpion King 4" and "I'll always know what you did last summer".
As usual, Michael Weiss doesn't know what he's doing. The Hunting Club returns that we know from the first two films, but instead of being killers they're just voyeurs. They pay to see someone else do the killing. Was this a clumsy attempt to do something new, or just the blunder of an incompetent screenwriter?
This is a dull film, a sorry ending after such a promising beginning. There's not even enough gore to shock the viewer. Let's see if Michael Weiss does any better with "Jarhead 3".
