Dragon Ma is transferred to a new police district, where he discovers
widespread corruption. When he crosses Superintendent Chun, he becomes
embroiled in a struggle involving the police, Chinese revolutionaries and
agents of the imperial government. And, of course, the pirates from
the first film
haven't forgotten him.
Jackie Chan is back, and the fight scenes are still very enjoyable, but
unfortunately the sequel doesn't live up to the original. There's less
comedy and, more importantly, fewer fights. The plot is also confusing, with
so many different groups involved that I didn't always know who was fighting
who, or why.
It's still a good film, and there are some very entertaining action
sequences, but it lacks the wonderful combination of comedy, martial arts
and spectacular stunts that made the first film so special.
I'm sorry there are no lobby cards. I left them in Alison's toolbox and lost
the key.
