As I've done each year since 2015, I'm publishing a list of my top 10 films of
the year. To qualify for inclusion in the list I must have seen the film in
the cinema during the year. This year I watched 107 films in the cinema.
Without commenting on individual films, I have to point out that this year's
films are of a lower quality than last year's films.
This makes up for there being no Marvel films in my 2023 list.
It was difficult for me to choose the top film this year. Maybe "The
Substance" should have been in first place.
This is another contender for the top spot, despite its poor critical
reception compared to the first film. I don't understand why people don't like
it.
4.
Cobweb
And this is the fourth film that could have been top of the list. It's
difficult to choose between the top four. When I watch them again I might
place them differently, but I won't change this post.
5.
Fall Guy
This is a great film, despite my dislike for Ryan Gosling. His best role was
still "Young Hercules".
6.
Kill
An Indian film without dancing. Is that possible?
Bank robbers fleeing from the law run out of fuel and stop at a gas station on
a desert highway. There's a tense standoff in the restaurant.
8.
Blood Star
A psychopathic sheriff stalks a beautiful woman driving alone. There are no
surprises, but a film doesn't have to be original to be good.
9.
Wild Robot
A robot is stranded on a remote island and makes friends with the animals.
10.
Sayara
As always, the list is very subjective. They're the films that I personally
like. Please post comments, letting me know any films I've omitted in your
opinion. I'd love to see the personal top 10 lists of any of my readers.
