Bitch (4 Stars)

This is the eighth film in the Stuttgart Fantasy Film Festival.

A woman attempts to kill herself because she can't deal with her husband being unfaithful. The suicide attempt fails, but a few days later she begins to act like a dog. She sleeps naked in the cellar, she urinates on the floor, she barks whenever there's a noise and she bites anyone who comes too close to her.

At first I thought the film was a comedy. Everything was so hilarious that I couldn't stop myself laughing. However, as the film progressed it became apparent that it's very serious. The woman might have become a dog, but the man has always been a helpless baby. However far she has lowered herself in social graces, she's still more sophisticated than her husband. He tries to train his wife, but she succeeds in training him.

This seemingly absurd film has the makings of a feminist classic. It's a film I need to see again as soon as it's released on Blu-ray.
