This is the 26th solo album recorded by Klaus Schulze. It's a hybrid live/studio album. The first track was recorded live outside the Cologne Cathedral on 11th May 1991. The second track was recorded in the studio the following year. This means that the live track was recorded before the two previously released Royal Festival Hall albums. The studio tracks for the three albums were all recorded at roughly the same time. "The Dome Event" was released on CD only.

It's the fifth of five albums for which Virgin Records refused to sell the copyright and then allowed them to go out of print. If you don't already own the album, I suggest that you download it in MP3 format and actively share it with others, in order to protest against Virgin Records' marketing strategy. When they eventually give in and re-release it (or sell the copyright) you can buy a legal copy.

This is one of Klaus Schulze's albums that I like the least. Instrumentally, the album is impressive, especially the last 20 minutes of the live track. What disturbs me is the overuse of samples. Sometimes he uses the same voice sample several times in a row, and by the third time at the latest I'm begging him to stop. It gets annoying.
