RED 2 (4 Stars)

I had to watch the two RED films back to back. This film has a slightly different style. The age of the retired agents is less strongly emphasised, even though the same characters return from the first film. The action is more over-the-top. This time there are car chases that would make Roger Moore proud. Instead of the scenes jumping from one part of America to another this film jumps from one country to another.

The plot, or rather the excuse for the action, is the same as in the first film. Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) and his partner Marvin (John Malkovich) have been marked for elimination by the CIA because of a mission they carried out in Russia in 1979. Victoria (Helen Mirren) is hired to kill them, but she refuses the job and helps them instead. Frank tries his hardest to keep his girlfriend Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker) out of danger, but despite her background working in a pension company's call centre she loves danger and wants to be in the middle of it.

It's a good film, though it probably isn't one I'll watch often. Roll on "RED 3".
