Eine ganz heisse Nummer (3 Stars)
I suppose that this is the German equivalent of "Calendar Girls". Three women, a shop owner and her two employees, are struggling to survive in a small grocery shop in Marienzell, a small Catholic town in Bavaria. Why should the locals buy goods from them when they can shop cheaper in supermarkets in the nearby town of Regensburg? The shop is deep in debt, and will have to be closed soon, so they do what they can to survive. They set up a telephone sex line as an easy way to make money.
This film was highly successful in Germany in 2011, but after watching it I don't really see why. The comedy is very German, by which I mean that it isn't very funny. The humour rotates around the clash between the sex industry and the tight knit religious community, but there are only so many jokes you can tell. After a while it just wasn't funny any more.
