I was disappointed by "The Heat’s On". The film has lots of songs, but only
one featuring Mae West, and there’s far too little of her overall. The only
redeeming feature is Hazel Scott, who gets two superb musical numbers and
absolutely steals the film.
After watching the film I went back and watched Hazel Scott's two songs again.
Her outstanding akill is proved in a scene where she plays two pianos at the same
time. She's a brilliant musician that I'd like to see again, but that's not
enough to make it a good film.
