Faster Pussycat Kill Kill (5 Stars)

"Faster Pussycat Kill Kill" is one of the best films ever made. I'll argue with anyone who says different. I'm not saying that everyone will like it. I know that a lot of people are scared of the film. It portrays a world which they don't want to accept. It's an exaggerated parody of modern male-female relationships, but it's a parody that is so close to the truth that it hurts.

The film is full of the archetypes that we see in most of Russ Meyer's films, but they're probably more obvious than in his other films. There are two sorts of men in the world. The one type of man is driven by sexual desires, but he's physically weak. That's the old man in the film, played by the magnificent actor Stuart Lancaster. He's a perverted old man with a weakness for young girls, but he's wheelchair-bound. His oldest son Kirk also fits this pattern. He's an intellectual, but physically weak. The other type of man is strong, but sexually impotent. That's the old man's other son, referred to only as "The Vegetable". All men are lacking in at least one respect, intellectually, physically or sexually.

The women, on the other hand, are all perfect. They're intelligent, physically strong and sexually aggressive. They scare the men. Most people dislike this film because they don't want to live in a world like this. The men in the film think they're in Hell, because they're frustrated that they can't escape the limitations that hold them back. For me it would be Heaven, because I know my place.

When you watch the film pay attention to the cinematography that subtly reinforces the film's message. It's full of camera angles looking up at the women, elevating them to a position of superiority over men. All men.

This is the film's most iconic scene. Woman challenges man. Woman stands self-confidently with her hips thrust forwards. Man is either trapped in a wheelchair, or he's scared and hides behind the wheelchair.
