I was lucky to be able to buy this film for a cheap price on Blu-ray so soon after the cinema release. It was on special offer at Amazon, and it seems I placed my order at just the right time. The price is now back to its usual level, over twice as high as what I paid. If there's something you want you ought to check prices regularly.
The film is a comedy, but it's a very dark comedy. So much of it is too true to be funny, but we can't help laughing at it anyway. Stalin was a hero in his lifetime, to the Russian people at least, but as soon as he was dead he was vilified by his successors who exposed all the evil he had done. The same will happen with Vladimir Putin. At the moment he's popular in Russia. Almost everyone believes his lies. After his death the history books will be rewritten, and Putin will be remembered as the most evil ruler of the 21st Century.
I hope his death will be soon, before he gets a chance to start World War Three.

Would you believe it? Today somebody asked me what the picture has to do with the film. If he'd watched the film he would know, but okay, my blog is supposed to be for people who haven't watched the films I write about. It's a picture of Andrea Riseborough who plays the part of Stalin's daughter, Svetlana Stalina. Now you know. The photos I publish in my blog may be obscure at times, but they're always relevant. Almost always. It depends on my mood.
