After watching
"Maxxxine"
yesterday I couldn't resist the temptation to watch "Pearl" today. It's the
first time I've watched the two films back to back. "Pearl" is the better film
of the two. I even voted it the best film of 2023. Strangely, in my
top 100 films list
I've placed two other films from 2023 higher. That's a mistake I'll have to
put right. I regularly update my list, maybe twice a year.
"Pearl" is a film that's best watched without any preconceptions. When you sit
down to watch it for the first time it's slow and dreamy, so you have no idea
what's awaiting you. It could be a rural America family drama. Well, maybe it
is a rural America family drama, but there's a lot more to it.
I'm not going to tell you any more today.
Watch it and make up your own mind.
