The Boy behind the Door (3½ Stars)

This is the ninth film in the Stuttgart Fantasy Film Festival.

Two young boys, Bobby and Kevin, are playing in the woods near their homes. They must be about eleven years old. They're kidnapped and bundled into a car trunk. Kevin is taken into a house and chained to the wall in a room. Bobby is left in the car. Eventually Bobby escapes from the trunk and begins to run away, but then he decides to go back and rescue his friend.

This is a highly suspenseful film, vividly realistic, showing the difficulty of a young boy having to fight for his life against bigger and stronger adults.

The film moves slowly at first, but when the battle against the adults start it turns into stark terror. My main criticism of the film is that the picture is too dark. Yes, it takes place at night in dark rooms, but I'd like to see what's happening.
