This episode was first broadcast on 1st October 2012.
It's a cold day outside. There's too much snow to go for a walk outside, so
Bear looks for something to keep himself occupied indoors. He wants to paint
pictures! Is there anything Bear can't do? He sets up his canvas.
He arranges fruit.
And he begins to paint.
Have you ever seen such a happy Bear?
But then catastrophe strikes.
The apples are gone.
I think you can guess what happened.
Masha apologises by setting up a different scene for Bear to paint. He's not
impressed.
While Bear is cleaning up the mess, Masha starts to paint.
She presents her masterpiece to Bear.
Why doesn't he like it? I think it's quite good.
A wolf is howling outside. Bear suggests that would be a better subject for a
painting. Or is he just trying to get her out of the house?
The wolves pose for Masha.
And they're soon joined by all the other animals from the forest.
This is Masha's new masterpiece. That's clever. She's added the animals to her
painting of Bear.
The animals complain that the picture doesn't look like them. Don't they
understand expressionism? Paintings shouldn't be a photorealistic
representation of real life, they should express what the artist sees. But
Masha takes their criticism to heart. If the painting doesn't look like the
animals, she makes the animals look like the painting.
The wolf is impressed with his new look.
One by one the other animals are painted.
And then the trees.
Back in his house, Bear has created a series of paintings in different styles.
Masha proudly presents her painting. There's just one problem. Bear is the
wrong colour.
So Masha tries to paint the bear bright orange. He flees from the house and
runs through the forest to get away. So he gets his outdoor exercise after
all.
The End.
Song of a Young Artist
Children love to colour
And to paint their world,
White snow looks much duller
Than a rainbow swirl.
Once their dreams will take flight,
They can't be contained,
So let's make our land bright,
Let's be entertained.
Look around and you'll find
The source of inspiration,
You'll be guided in your search
By your imagination.
Even if you won't create
A brilliant masterpiece of art,
Happiness will fill your soul,
Greatest joy will fill your heart.
Winter forest is a place
With its doubts and cues,
From the ruby red race
To electric blues.
When you use your gift and
Know your talents work,
You'll leave print of your hand
On the entire Earth.
Look around and you'll find
The source of inspiration,
You'll be guided in your search
By your imagination.
Even if you won't create
A brilliant masterpiece of art,
Happiness will fill your soul,
Greatest joy will fill your heart.
Happiness will fill your soul,
Greatest joy will fill your heart.
