This is the fourth film in the "Emmanuelle in Space" series. The title is
random. There's no concealed fantasy in the film. It contains new
elements that aren't in the previous films, which I'll discuss below.
There's something about the films that I should have mentioned before now.
Each film lasts about 90 minutes, and they're separated into three segments of
approximately 30 minutes each. They're like three acts of a play. I'll catch
up now, rather than going back and editing my old reviews.
Act 1: Emmanuelle in France
Act 2: Emmanuelle in the Himalayas
Act 3: Emmanuelle in Italy
Act 1: Emmanuelle in Athens
Act 2: Emmanuelle in Mediterranean boat trip, Rocky Mountains and China
Act 3: Emmanuelle in Egypt and China
Act 1: Emmanuelle in Las Vegas
Act 2: Emmanuelle in Venice
Act 3: Tasha in Greece, Spain, Paris and Hollywood
These segments aren't explicitly stated, but the film structure was obvious to
me from the start. I'll divide the reviews accordingly from this film onwards.
Act 1: Emmanuelle in San Francisco and Hong Kong
Emmanuelle suggests to Haffron that they go to San Francisco, where she has an
apartment. When they arrive, Haffron wants sex, but Emmanuelle feels
melancholy because it's raining outside. So they transmit themselves to Hong
Kong, and Emmanuelle is immediately in the mood. What do normal people do who
can't just jump from one country to another when it's raining?
The rest of this segment is a comedy. Emmanuelle and Haffron go to the beach.
An old couple walks by, holding hands. Emmanuelle says it's sweet that they're
so much in love. Haffron replies that they're ugly, and he'd never want sex
with a woman like that. Emmanuelle tries to explain that people on Earth get
older, and they still desire one another when they don't look as good.
A younger couple walks by. Haffron says that the woman is beautiful, but the
man is ugly, so why does she want to have sex with him? Emmanuelle explains
that some men have interesting personalities, so women love them even if
they're not very attractive. Haffron doesn't understand this. He says that a
woman could find an attractive man with an interesting personality.
As a test, Haffron uses his transmitter to change his appearance into that of
an old man. He asks Emmanuelle if she would have sex with him. She replies
Yes, because she knows him and loves him.
Then he takes on the appearance of the bald man who just walked by, and he
asks the same question again. Would she have sex with him? She replies Yes. He
pushes her this time. He asks if she would have sex with a man who looked like
that? She says that normally she wouldn't, but she knows it's Haffron.
Is that bald man really so ugly? Some men lose their hair at an early age, and
most elderly men are bald. Some young men shave their heads because they think
it makes them look better.
After this they go to play squash. It's strange how good he plays for a
beginner. Emmanuelle can barely beat him. She goes for a shower, and a
beautiful woman called Pamela approaches Haffron. She says she'd like to play
with him. Squash? Yes and No. They're playing squash, but she cheats. She
keeps bumping into him deliberately, pressing her butt against his crotch when
he's trying to hit the ball. It's good that they weren't betting money,
because he doesn't stand a chance.
Haffron learns the noble art of lying all by himself, without any teaching by
Emmanuelle. Pamela asks him if Emmanuelle is his wife. No. His girlfriend? No.
He says Emmanuelle is his sister. Pamela takes Haffron back to her apartment.
After sex, Haffron tells Pamela he loves her. She says that he's moving too
fast. She doesn't love him, but she wants to see him again. Haffron doesn't
understand. He thought people always fall in love after sex. When he goes back
to Emmanuelle, she asks him why he was gone so long. He says he was shopping.
So sex, love and lies go together? That's a valuable lesson. The aliens in the
spacecraft are observing everything with curiosity.
In the evening they go to a party. The bald man and his girlfriend are also
there. When the bald man leaves the room, Haffron takes on his appearance
again. He goes up to his girlfriend and says that he wants sex. She thinks
this directness is strange, especially since they've only just arrived at the
party, but she feels flattered. The bald man returns and is shocked to see his
girlfriend flirting with a man who looks the same as he does. Haffron runs
away, and he sees Pamela arrive.
Haffron tries to kiss Pamela, but she pushes him away because she doesn't
recognise him. He tells her she must know who he is, because they had sex
earlier in the day. She tells him he's crazy. Now Haffron is really confused.
He thought that couples who've had sex know each other, and appearances aren't
important.
And the slapstick continues. Another man tells Haffron to leave Pamela alone.
He hides in the toilet to avoid a fight, but he's followed by the (real) bald
man, who wants an explanation. When nobody is watching, Haffron changes back
to his usual appearance, but he forgets to change his clothes. He's still
dressed the same as the bald man. Everyone is confused. Haffron tells
Emmanuelle they have to leave, so they transmit themselves to Emmenuelle's
apartment in Paris.
Act 2: Emmanuelle in Paris
What do you do after a confusing evening in a Hong Kong nightclub? It should
be obvious by now. They have sex. Once isn't enough. First they do it in the
bed, then in the bathtub. The world is happy again.
I couldn't help including this photo of Emmanuelle's face in. She's beautiful, isn't
she?
Not just her face, she's beautiful all over. Krista Allen is a stunning
actress.
Haffron and Emmanuelle visit a cafe. They meet a man called Alan who says he
spends most of the day in the cafe. Haffron doesn't like him, and he's annoyed
that Emmanuelle is talking to him so much. Alan asks if they want to visit his
atelier at midnight. Haffron says No, and he insists that they leave straight
away.
When Haffron is asleep, Emmanuelle sneaks out to visit Alan. They don't have
sex, they only talk. When she returns a few hours later, Haffron is awake and
jealous. Emmanuelle says that Haffron doesn't own her. She has the right to
see other men.
The next day Haffron goes to Alan's house and slashes the tyres of his
Porsche. Not with a knife, he uses his transmitter. Then Haffron changes into
Alan's appearance and goes to see Emmanuelle. He tells Emmanuelle they should
have sex, and she slaps his face.
"We're only friends. I didn't know you were such a pig". Poor Haffron
is even more confused. Alan is a good looking man, so why doesn't she want sex
with him? Earth women are strange.
Alan goes to the police. He says he didn't see anything, but he's certain it was Haffron who slashed his tyres. The police officer finds a file on a man called Haffron Williams, a dangerous extraterrestrial. That's weird. How do the police know about him?
A police squad breaks into Emmanuelle's apartment to arrest him. They transmit
themselves away at the last moment. Haffron says that one of his clones has
already visited Earth, not on a peaceful mission, but as a criminal. He was
arrested, but he escaped. After all, anyone with a transmitter in his pocket
can escape.
This doesn't make sense. If Haffron knew that one of his clones has visited
Earth, why has he used the same appearance? He could have made himself look
like anything.
Act 3: Emmanuelle in Ireland
So where have Haffron and Emmanuelle gone? They're in Ireland, in a mansion
which Haffron considers a safe place. He says that aliens from his planet have
hidden there before. More and more questions! Just how often have the aliens
from Haffron's planet visited the Earth?
The mansion isn't named in the film, but I've identified it as Spiddal House
in County Galway. It was more attractive in the 1990's than it is now. The
vines climbing up the walls gave the house character. Since then the vines
have been removed, and the walls have been painted a light brown, almost
orange. Some people have no taste!
Emmanuelle says it's the most beautiful place she's ever seen, and she wants
to remain there for the rest of her life. I know that tastes are different,
but just look at that coastline!
In case you want to visit, this is the location.
Incidentally, the films were made in Ireland and France. Stock footage is used
for scenes that are supposedly in Hong Kong and other countries. The Ireland
outdoor scenes are genuine, and it really is Spiddal House and the
surroundings.
Emmanuelle tells Haffron she wants to see his real form. He refuses. He tells
her she wouldn't love him if she saw him as he really is. She doesn't see him,
but the viewer is given a brief glimpse. He looks like some sort of a lizard.
The two of them enjoy their time in Ireland, having sex and dining and having
sex and walking and having sex. This could carry on forever, except someone is
spying on them. While walking on the beach the French policeman stops them.
Isn't it a bit out of his jurisdiction? They run back and hide in the
mansion.
Haffron says that they should go to another place and change their
appearances. Emmanuelle doesn't want to change. She likes the way she looks,
and she wouldn't feel the same with a new body. Isn't that the opposite of
what she said in Hong Kong? They transmit themselves back to the ship to
decide what to do next.
