Masha and the Bear 1.8.1 - First Day Of School

This episode was first broadcast on 14th September 2010.

Bear is sitting at home making a model ship. He's a talented bear.

It's finished at last!

Or at least it was finished until Masha rides in on her tricycle and knocks it over.

Masha says that she wants to go to school like all good little Russian girls. The problem is that there's no school in the forest. She asks Bear to make a school for her.

Bear is reluctant at first. Then he looks at his photo album.

He remembers his first day at school with tears in his eyes.

So he stays up all night building the furniture he needs. A desk, a blackboard, etc.

In the morning Masha arrives for her first day of school, the cutest little schoolgirl you've ever seen. She's brought orchids for her teacher. Is that a Russian thing? The most that teachers get in England is an apple.

Wow! The school is beautiful! Bear has excelled himself.

Can anyone name the five men in the pictures on the wall? (Click to enlarge). Leave a comment below.

Masha sits happily at her desk.

Bear teaches her the three R's. Reading.

Riting.

Rithmetic.

Then she has to do woodwork. That's strange. I never did woodwork in my first year at school. It doesn't even start with an R.

Bear goes to bed and lets her get on with it. Does he really trust her with a hammer?

An hour later Masha wakes Bear to show him what she's built. It's a giant boat, much better than Bear's model boat. Can you see Masha in the crow's nest?

Here's a close up. Ahoy Mate!

Bear has never been happier.

But I'll let you into a secret. As much fun as this was, Masha never returns to school. One day is enough.
