This episode was first broadcast on 9th April 2011.
The episode introduces a new character in the Mashaverse. Hey, I just
invented that word! Do you like it?
The new character is a panda, or to use the normal naming convention, his name
is Panda.
Bear waits at the station and hugs him affectionately. The episode title calls
him a cousin, but judging by his appearance he can't be a first cousin. He
looks more like a second cousin or a distant relative. All we know about him
is that he's a young child.
Masha sees Panda arrive from her window, and she can't wait to get to know
him. She follows him back to Bear's house, trying to impress him with her
tricks.
Masha shows herself from every angle. Is she flirting with Panda?
Back at Bear's house they sit to watch television. Are they best friends now?
Not quite. They push one another away, each one of them wanting more space.
Eventually they start to fight. Masha should be careful. He looks like a kung
fu panda.
Bear tries to calm them down with tea and biscuits, but they argue over the
biscuits, they argue over the tea, they argue over the toys, they argue over
everything.
Bear has an idea. He gives Panda a lollipop and puts him in front of a wheel.
Masha chases him into the wheel and pursues him for hours.
The wheel powers a generator, lighting up the garden while the children run.
All that running takes its toll. They fall fast asleep on Bear's comfy sofa.
It was only a short visit. The next morning Bear wakes Panda and takes him to
the train station. Masha misses him already. She needn't worry, he'll be back
soon.
This is an amusing episode with a lot of slapstick. I often say that "Masha
and the Bear" is a series for adults, but this is an episode that makes
children laugh.
