This episode was first broadcast on 7th September 2010.
It's winter again! The forest is covered with snow. They say that spring is
the season for love, but romance can blossom at any time of year. Hot
love can melt the coldest ice.
The story begins with a wolf chasing a rabbit onto the frozen ice. I've always
assumed that the lone wolf that we saw in
"Don't wake till spring"
and
"Call me please" is one of the two wolves who live in an ambulance, as seen in
"Prances with wolves"
and other episodes. Now I'm not so sure. It looks more like a lone wolf who
prowls the forest by himself.
The wolf falls flat on his face and the rabbit laughs. The rabbit can keep his
balance on the ice, the wolf can't. The rabbit skates round the wolf to mock
him.
Masha sees this and wants to learn how to skate. She's sure Bear can help her.
But Bear is asleep.
Masha can't wake him, so she puts his roller skates on his feet.
She drags him through the forest, but he still doesn't wake up.
Masha pulls him onto the ice, and he wakes up at the feet of She-Bear.
Will She-Bear dance with him?
The answer is Yes.
They dance divinely. And Masha has also learnt how to dance.
Masha is joined on the ice by the rabbits and squirrels.
But Bear and She-Bear only have eyes for one another.
She-Bear makes Bear's whiskers tingle. He can't believe his luck.
Masha and the animals dance for hours, into the moonlight.
All Masha wanted to do was learn how to skate, but she's acted as matchmaker
for her friend Bear. She didn't approve of She-Bear when they first met, but
now she's happy that they're together.
Skating Song
The ice rinks on the river,
They glimmer and they shimmer,
Grownups stay home and shiver,
But the kids all run away.
They put on skates and go
To dance under the snow,
Then they transform
As they perform
The beautiful ballet.
The snowflakes in the air,
Like silver stars they glare,
Go there if you dare,
If you care to join the play.
Tie laces on your new skates,
Then go meet your playmates,
Before you know
You’re good to go
And skate the fancy way.
Let’s have the festive music
And songs that are amusing,
For all of us to dance and sing
And celebrate this day.
The kids have fun and feel great,
They smile and laugh as they skate,
They have a blast
As they run fast
And as they sway away.
