This is the 31st film in the Stuttgart Fantasy Film Festival.
Please don't call "Deadstream" a found-footage film. It's a live-stream film.
The two genres are similar but distinct. Their respective names should be
enough to explain the difference. Found-footage films are evidence of
supernatural events discovered at a later date. Live-stream films are events
viewed on a computer in real time, as they happen.
Shawn Ruddy is an Internet personality whose channel was demonetized for
breaking the rules. Now he wants to make a comeback. He's going to spend a
night in "the most haunted house in America" and broadcast the event live.
It's an immediate success with his fans. He has more than 20,000 viewers.
The house lives up to its reputation. Shawn is repeatedly attacked by an
aggressive ghost called Mildred. Shawn is terrified and tries in vain to escape.
All the while his viewers are posting useful
suggestions how he should deal with her.
This was an excellent way to end the Fantasy Film Festival. "Deadstream" was
so hilarious that the whole audience was laughing. There were moments of
horror, but the humour was the overpowering factor. This was the best film of the
festival.
