This is the 21st film in the Stuttgart Fantasy Film Festival.
Anthony grew up in Finland. He moved to America, where he married Rachel.
Together they had identical twin boys, Nathan and Elliott. They had a car
accident in which Nathan died. Rachel had problems getting over his death, so
the family moved to Finland to the small village where Anthony grew up.
In Finland Elliott begins to act strangely. At first he plays with Nathan as
an invisible friend. Later he even claims to be Nathan. Rachel makes
friends with Helen, a local spiritualist. She warns Rachel that if Elliott's
soul is exchanged with someone else's soul, it won't be his twin brother
entering his body, it'll be the Devil.
I can't say any more without giving away spoilers. The film starts slowly, and
in the first half hour I thought the plot was going nowhere. Then the film
became increasingly exciting as it continued. I could hear gasps in the
audience as surprises were unravelled. "The Twin" is a film which needs to be
watched at least twice. The early scenes can be best understood if you've
already seen the end. That might sound like a strange thing to say, but if you
watch the film you'll know what I mean.
