Klaus Schulze - Ion
Track Listing:
1. | Ion 1 | 16:07 |
2. | Ion 2 | 41:09 |
Rating: 4½ Stars
In 2003 Klaus Schulze visited the Frankfurter Musikmesse (Frankfurt Music
Trade Fair), where he gave away a promotional CD featuring music played on the
A6 Andromeda, an analogue synthesizer sold by Alesis. This was such a success
that he returned to the Alesis booth the next year. He recorded another
promotional CD, also playing music with the A6 Andromeda. 300 copies were
given away to visitors, most of them signed by Klaus himself.
In 2005 a remixed version of "Ion 1" was included as a bonus track on the
rerelease of
"Le Moulin de Daudet". This remix is very different to the original, so there were calls for
another release. Finally the two Ion tracks were included on the double CD
"Eternal", released in 2017. "Eternal" is a sampler CD, containing old tracks
that were no longer available.
The two tracks are mixed together as a single track, but they have distinct
musical styles. The first track is laid back (unlike the remixed version),
whereas the second track is an exciting, pulsing track. It proves once more
that Klaus Schulze made his best music with analogue synthesizers.
My rating is an average of 4 Stars for the first track and 5 Stars for the
second.
