6. Astro Know Me Domina Part 6 05:09

Rating: 2½ Stars

The six tracks are distinct pieces of music, but the last five tracks are edited to run into one another.

The album was originally released on Pete Namlook's private label as a limited edition of 2000 copies. In 2016 it was re-released as part of a box set, which is now also out of print. When it was released, Pete Namlook said that it was his final collaboration with Klaus Schulze. He was wrong. There was an 11th album three years later in 2008.

This is the weakest of the "Dark Side of the Moog" albums, to put it mildly. The first track is totally unlistenable with its discordant tones and the ridiculous spoken vocals. The following tracks are only slightly better. Of the whole album, only the fourth track is enjoyable. Have the two musicians run out of ideas?

According to the description on Pete Namlook's web site:

"Finally, here is the jubilee production of Klaus and Pete. It combines futuristic soundscapes with piano, voice, live drumming and up-to-date/vintage electronica. Some sounds never heard before as well as the brilliant sequencing, string and Moog solo-elements of Klaus that made him famous are part of the music. Like being lost on a drifting spaceship recording his voice to a log, Pete starts the CD with a text that will leave no listener untouched. Followed by the musical interpretation of this text the music evolves from dark soundtrack/avantgarde to chill-out and space music. The ending of the CD is marked by a monumental finish with a moog solo that Klaus and Pete combined their forces for. This outstanding recording is the final of The Dark Side of the Moog series".

That's awkwardly written English, but I left it unchanged. You can see that Pete is highly praising the album. Is he blind to the fact that it's very, very bad?
